September 2017 Demonstrator
The September Meeting of the Bradford Flower Club had a demonstration by Heather Hayes and her tittle was :
‘With Beauty in Mind’
Heather made several arrangements using lovely foliage and flowers. Her presentation was full of laughter and fun.
• Heather’s first display was in a flat tray, previously greened up. Using folded Formium placed upright and mini yellow Gerberas to follow the lines of the Formium and aromatic Dill. When complete the arrangements separated to form two individual ones.
• An ‘L’ shape followed using Crocosmia sead heads, Fatsia, variegated Aspidistra, Equisetum grass, then yellow pincushion Protea (nutans), 5 pink Ginger, 3 lovely pink Anthuriums and completed with ‘grey eye’ Senecio.
• A two-tiered metal stand formed the mechanics next. In the centre short white Carnations were placed in a tight group like a pincushion with delicate Dendrobium Orchids spraying out in a circle around the centre to follow the line of green Stephanandra sprays.
• Fatsia leaves were the foliage for the fourth arrangement. Heather had cut these in a ‘V’ shape as an alternative to cutting straight across to give more effect. Three Sunflowers and yellow roses were the flower placements.
• An enormous piece of wood was the dramatic background next. This was attached to a metal stand and placed on its side with an oasis dish in the centre. Folded Aspidistras and beautiful pink Anthuriums were the centrepiece.
• Heather’s final arrangement was constructed in a corner shaped ‘garden fence’ with folded Formiums, Fatsias and Senecio to fill. Blue Delphiniums and orange gerbera finished the display.
