March 2020 Club Minutes
Minutes of Monday 16th March 2020 Club Meeting
Chair welcomed everyone to the March meeting. Members were thanked for turning out to support the Club at these worrying times. Chair said she had wiped down all handle’s tables and toilets before the meeting and would do the same at the end of the night to limit any transmissions
There were a few celebrations in the Club. Last week Sally Lockwood celebrated her 80th Birthday and Pauline would celebrate hers next week. Congratulations were given to both.
There were not many notices more like updates on the Coronavirus.
Harrogate Flower Show was due to run from the 23rd -26th April with a club trip planned for the 26th. In view of the current situation a decision had been taken to cancel this trip and also that planned to breezy Knees. At the moment Lisette was still willing to have her garden party in June. But again this will likely to have to be cancelled if the 70s have to isolate.
The Club had received two NAFAS statements about the Coronavirus. The first was simply re-iterating the washing of hands, covering your mouth and nose when we cough and sneeze etc. The second was that we have been advised to cancel our April Meeting and to consider future meetings. The Club was to take their advice and cancel the April Meeting but will review as the next months progress. No advice had been given over agreeing cancellation fees by Area with our demonstrators but it was hoped that they do follow Ann Simpsons view that she will not charge Clubs for a cancellation under Coronavirus.
Members were asked if they were in agreement in light of GDPR that they could be contacted by email address or telephone number given to the Club so that they could be kept up to date.
Last month a series of events planned for the Sales Table were given out. With the cancellation of the April meeting nothing would happen and it was felt the Cake Stall planned for May would be replace with the Plant sale.
Sarah Hopps was then welcomed back to the Club. She had a wonderful selection of many plants arranged on the stage. As always she gave a wonderful and informative talk about her plants and then presented some stunning slides of many gardens.
The Chair thanked Sarah for all her time and effort she had put into the evening and for supporting the club over the worrying times. The flower dip then followed using 5 plants from Sarah’s arrangement. Members were then invited to have a look at the plants for themselves and purchase any they wished. 10% of her takings would be donated to club funds. Sarah would answer any questions members had.
Members were informed that next meeting in April is cancelled and that we hoped we could all meet on the 18th May. Members were invited for refreshments in the Blue room and were wished a safe journey home
