Minutes of the Meeting of the Bradford Flower Club held on Monday 17^th February 2011 at Haworth Road Methodist Church:

Our Chairman gave Members and Guests a warm welcome to our February meeting. A special welcome was given to our Committee Member Jean following the death of her husband.

Yvonne said how much we had enjoyed our January meeting when we had super demonstrations by Eileen Barraclough, Pat Wiley and Jean Mouls. Looking through the old club minutes Yvonne noticed that in 1964 Pat had stepped in to cover for a Mrs Cole who had been unable to demonstrate. A huge thankyou was extended to our three members who had given us such a memorable evening.

 Our Chairman then asked that,if anyone is willing to help at short notice should we be let down by our speaker or demonstrator in the future, they let Doreen Vincent know. Having a ‘fall back’ list could save Doreen a lot of work.

Those attending our Annual Dinner were asked to make sure Vivienne had received their reply and choice of menu, as the Hotel were asking for final details. Any donations of prizes for the raffle would be gratefully received on the night.

 It was announced that our coach to Shibden Hall still had plenty of seats available. Husbands, partners and friends would be more than welcome.

Our Chairman advised that the Committee will be busy working on a programme of workshops and club outings for this year. Thoughts and ideas would be brought to members’ attention at a future meeting.

Unfortunately our Chairman had not been able to attend the Area Meeting on Saturday 15th February due to a heavy snowfall. Any important information will be passed on when the minutes are received.

The minutes of the January meeting were displayed on the Notice Board and would be signed after the meeting.

 Our trip down memory lane took us to Monday 21^st February 1994. The meeting was held at the Abundant Life Church. Sheila Boyes was the Chairman and the Lord and Lady Mayoress in attendance. Sheila was pleased to present the Lord and Lady Mayoress with a cheque for £157 for their Bradford Cancer Support Centre. The money had been raised from a charity stall at the January Meeting. Unfortunately due to bad weather not many members had attended the meeting.

 Mrs Marian Thompson’s flower arranging equipment had been donated to the club.

 On that date Mrs Pat Furby, Mrs Joyce Longthorne and Mrs Muriel Spencer–Wilcock were the surprised demonstrators. May be the original demonstrator was unable to attend due to the weather.

 Sheila Clarke had given the vote of thanks.

 Back once again to the present. On completion of the notices our Chairman was pleased to welcome our demonstrator Vanessa Wellock whose title was ‘Floristry By Design’

 The vote of thanks was given by Mrs Joyce Longthorne.

Yvonne announced our next meetings were the dinner on the 7^th March with our demonstrator Elizabeth Helliker and her title ‘Bird from Paradise’ and our club meeting on the 21^st March when we welcome Eileen Barraclough with her title ‘Another World Than This’

Our Chairman wished everyone goodnight and a safe journey home.
