- The Chair was sorry to announce that Pat Moody’s husband died on the 6th December. Pat had helped Vivienne with the register until this last year when she was unable to renew her membership as she was unable to leave her husband because of his illness.
- Thanks were given to all who had supported the Christmas Fuddle, bringing food and entering into the spirit of the evening. The room and hall looked fantastic. Sandra Woodhouse who had won the Christmas dress had been in hospital for an operation to pin her toe. She was sent wishes for a speedy recovery.
- The Minutes of the December meeting had been placed on the notice board and these would be signed after the meeting if everyone was in agreement.
- Annual Dinner – as this was the Clubs Emerald Year (55th) the Chair invited everyone to join the celebrations on 5th March. Booking forms and invitations to be collected from Vivienne.
Menu choices to be indicated on the form and these were to be returned by the February meeting. The evening was expected to be very enjoyable and guests were very welcome. Any donations of prizes for the raffle would be gratefully received – to be brought on the night or to the February Club meeting.
- A letter from Wendy Davis NAFAS new National Chairman was read out and other leaflets are available on the Notice Board.
- Harrogate Spring Show – The club had been invited to stage an arrangement at this Year’s Harrogate Spring Show over the weekend of the 26-29th April. The Chair felt it was a privilege for the Club to be asked as well as rather daunting. Sheila Boyes had agreed to lead a team to design and build a display entitled “Our Town”. Some people had already volunteered to help but Chair welcomed offers from others and asked for Members’ support at the Show.
- A Coach Trip to Burton Agnes Hall was being arranged for Saturday 30th June. Costs were expected to be in the region of £22 for a full days outing; entrance to the Hall and moving onto Bridlington later in the day. More details will be available at the next meeting.
4. Demonstrator – The chair welcomed Margaret Peet with her title ‘Life After size 14’.
Margaret who is a past NAFAS Area Chair gave a very interesting and amusing talk on her work as a lifestyle consultant. Since leaving her previous job she has retrained through ‘Colour Me Beautiful’ and now advises on image for her clients. She talked about her size and how a person’s image could be completely changed by the way they dressed and choice of colour themes – skin, hair and clothes.
The Chair presented Margaret Peet with flowers.
