March Meeting 2015
‘Have Passport Will Travel’ a flower demonstration by Carys Harrison
Monday 16th March at 7.30pm with refreshments following the demonstration
Haworth Road Methodist Church
Chair welcomed Carys Harrison with her demonstration entitled ‘Have Passport Will Travel’. Carys introduced herself as a new demonstrator and took us on a journey to places she had visited – Vietnam, Australia, and Japan and incorporated aspects of plants and flowers there. She used mechanics made from water hyacinth, bark from Eucalyptus and coloured boxes covered in Japanese paper. She introduced some techniques for mechanics with her cable covered in twine which she could bend and manipulate. She had also constructed a curved lattice structure from dark red cornus which was imaginative. Her flowers were vibrant and colourful such as Protea, Iris, yellow and pink tulips, Cala lilies red cornus, large yellow Chrysanthemums, Gerbera and roses. The overall effect was stunning.
